Alyssa Harrington "The Beauty of the Dancer"

The true joy of what I do is when I meet amazing people who are passionate and love what they do. This young lady has no shortage of both. Alyssa Harrington is one of the incredible dancers who performs with the prestigious Dallas Black Dance Theatre. All I can say is that I wish I had more time o photograph her Alyssa absolutely commands the camera. Thank you Alyssa I cannot wait to we both work together again. 

 

Alyssa Harrington (Lincoln, NE) began her dance training at PMDI and while attending was a recipient of the “Academic Scholarship Award” and achieved certification in ISTD Level 1 to Advanced. Alyssa at 17 became the youngest member in school history to be accepted in the University of Nebraska Omaha's “The Moving Company” the oldest Modern Dance Company in America. Alyssa has performed in musical productions of “The Wiz” and “Beauty and the Beast”, as a Demi Soloist in the Omaha Dance Project’s production of “Swan Lake” and with the Russian Moscow Ballet’s “Nutcracker.” Alyssa was a “Nebraska Young Artist Award Winner” and winner of the “Best Featured Dancer”at the Omaha Entertainment Arts Awards for her unique performances, inspiration and contributions to the performing arts. On scholarship Alyssa attended Kansas City Ballet, The Ailey School (Level 1 Scholar), and Dallas Black Dance Theatre as a demonstrator for Dudley Williams and Milton Myers. Alyssa joined DBDT II for the 2012-2013 season while performing with SD|Prism Dance and Larrwell Productions. Alyssa has had the privilege to work with artists around the world first hand and perform works by: Alvin Ailey, Kirven Boyd, Hope Boykin, Sonya Dawkins, Ulysses Dove, Francesca Harper, Rennie Harris, Christopher L. Huggins, Garfield Lemonious, Dianne McIntyre, Bridget Moore, Milton Myers, Margo Sappington, Darryl B. Sneed, Jamal Story, Nejla Yatkin, and honored to have been selected to perform Angelitos Negros (1972) by Donald McKayle. Alyssa is grateful to be teaching and choreographing works with local artists and schools, while performing with Dallas Black Dance Theatre.
